About the Role:
The Permanency Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing Families United Network's adoption and permanency program which provides services to foster children, resource families, and provider agencies.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Completes all units of service as assigned.
  • Maintains files in compliance with all applicable state regulations and agency policies
  • Functions as a resource person to Case Managers and agency resource families about adoption and permanency issues
  • Works with foster care and adoptive families regarding adoption and permanency issues, such as transracial adoptions
  • Provides Adoption Orientation to families
  • Assists in the planning, coordinating, and participation in events aimed at promoting and/or celebrating adoption and permanency
  • Attends agency-required meetings
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred within the human service field
  • Two years' experience working with children and/or families preferred
  • Eligibility under current PA legal and regulatory requirements
  • Valid PA Driver's License
  • PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Clearance, PA FBI Clearance
  • Sensitivity to service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer or desk.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach occasionally throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10–15 pounds (such as files, small office equipment, or supplies).
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to read screens, documents, and reports for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and via electronic means.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
