About the role

What you'll do

  • Academic Oversight: Provide differentiated instruction, direct tutoring, and intervention to ensure students assigned to ISS/Treehouse complete assigned schoolwork and maintain academic progress.

  • Case Management: Communicate regularly with classroom teachers, administrators, and staff regarding student behavior, academic progress, and readiness to return to the general school environment.
  • Data Collection: Track and analyze student data (e.g., assignment completion rates, re-assignment rates) to measure the effectiveness of the support program.

B. GED Program Instruction

  • Curriculum Delivery: Instruct adult learners in all four core subjects of the GED exam: Reasoning Through Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematical Reasoning.
  • Individualized Learning: Assess incoming students' academic levels, create personalized study plans, and target areas of weakness to improve outcomes.
  • Testing Readiness: Conduct practice tests, teach effective test-taking strategies, and advise students on the official GED testing process.

Qualifications

  • Experience in differentiated instruction, tutoring, and academic intervention.
  • Familiarity with the GED curriculum and testing process is highly desirable.
  • Strong classroom management skills, particularly in working with students with behavioral needs.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and data analysis skills.
  • A licensed teacher is preferred, but the position is open to unlicensed candidates who can function as a skilled tutor.
  • Self-Motivated, able to work independently and help create and implement a new system based on the individual needs of the students.
  • Skilled in collaborating with the whole team, connecting frequently with the Core teachers in order to best support every student.
