About This Position

SUMMARY

The Senior Designer is an integral part of the creative and technical staff driving the success of Versa Designed Surfaces. This role is responsible for for developing market-specific, commercially viable wallcovering patterns and colorways informed by high-end market intelligence, trend analysis, and strong design instinct.

In addition to concept development, the Senior Designer oversees color palette creation, prototype approvals, CAD-based color development, aesthetic sign-off for production tools and trials, assembly of market test materials (displays, sample cards, trend boards), and approval of production color matching. The Senior Designer participates in regular design and cross-functional meetings and may be required to travel overnight. This position is eligible for remote work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop original, aesthetic and marketable wallcovering patterns/designs for manufacture and distribution in high-end commercial and residential marketsDesign repeatable patterns suitable for rotogravure, digital, and other manufacturing processesCreate color palettes based on sales data, market feedback, and color trend analysis using CAD/Photoshop and/or AVA systemsMaintain knowledge of high-end market variables including competitor pricing, production timelines, and launch cadencesEnsure production prototype standards are complete, accurate and submitted in a timely mannerDesign within Versa manufacturing parameters by maintaining a working understanding of internationl production processesProvide aesthetic approval for production tool engraving and trial runsApprove initial production runs for select new product designsParticipate in regular design review meetings and update project tracking within the Line PlanDemonstrate strong design communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionallyWork as part of a creative team within an open studio environmentCollaborate directly with distributor and converter design teams to ensure design, technical, and timeline objectives are achievedManage multiple deadlines while maintaining professionalism, a positive attitude, and strong work ethicContribute to a diverse range of studio and company initiativesRepresent Versa Designed Surfaces at trade shows, customer presentations, and market-testing trips with professional presentation and decorumPartner with the Versa Designed Surfaces Marketing team and external creative teams to provide design input for select graphics, promotional materials, advertising, websites, and trade show assets

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor Degree in Fine Art, Textile Design, Surface Pattern Design, or related field3+ years of relevant design experience within the commercial and/or luxury wallcovering industry (or adjacent sector), supported by a demonstrated portfolio of workProfessional knowledge of the commercial and/or high-end residential wallcovering marketAdvanced proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and color management software applications, including AVAStrong creative sensibility with demonstrated interest in surface pattern design and a refined understanding of color theory and color relationshipsExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsEnergy and passion for creating designs that position Versa at the forefront of the high-end luxury wallcovering marketStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teamsHigh level of initiative with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesProfessional presence and willingness to travel domestically and internationally by air
