About This Position
Position Summary |
This position will provide leadership and coordination for our Durable Medical Equipment store and staff. This position will collaborate one-on-one with physicians, customers, employees, and management staff to coordinate all activities profitably, efficiently, and with the highest quality of products and service, in accordance with all legal and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics standards.
Position Responsibilities |
Supervisory
- Supervise and support all aspects of the DME processes to ensure a compliant and efficient process that meets company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Lead, supervise, and provide on-going training and support to DME staff to ensure quality services that support organizational growth objectives.
- Interviews, hires, and onboards new staff providing excellent training that promotes a positive new hire experience and supports employee retention.
- Maintain accurate and complete employee training records.
- Evaluate employee performance and provide regular, constructive, and timely performance evaluations.
- Oversee employee discipline and termination processes, ensuring compliance with company policies as well as local, state, and federal laws.
- Supervise incoming volume of referrals and communicate the priority of entry to ensure appropriate timing of patient care.
- Address challenges and identify solutions to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Adhere to UICH’s Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, and ACHC Accreditation Standards.
- Prepares, participates, and is accountable for department ACHC (Accreditation Commission for Healthcare) audits and upholds standards in the department.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Administrative duties
- Timekeeping and payroll review for department staff.
- Create and update training and procedural manuals for the DME Department.
- Create monthly schedules based on team availability.
- Assist in shift coverage for PTO requests, Call-Offs, and Holiday coverage.
Education and Experience Requirements |
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five (5) years of supervisory experience preferably in the healthcare field.
- Three (3) years of experience in healthcare, preferably in the DME field.
- Experience with CPR+ and/or Brightree software systems is required.
- Proficient in using technology and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of DME operations, such as inventory management, compliance, billing, and patient care.
- Driver’s license and proof of insurance required.

- Five (5) years of DME experience.

Physical Requirements |
- Frequent sitting, walking, and standing.
- Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and push/pull 85 lbs.
- Ability to move around in a retail store environment.
Additional Eligibility Requirements |
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Successful completion of reference checks.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Expected Work Hours and Location |
Generally, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday-Friday with a weekend rotation. The weekend hours include Saturday and Sunday 10:30am-2:30pm. Days and hours are subject to change with notice.
