Position Summary

Five Star Marketplace is seeking an experienced and dependable Journeyman Meat Cutter to support daily operations in our meat department in Knox, Indiana. This hands-on role is responsible for meat cutting, product preparation, merchandising, inventory support, and maintaining high standards for product quality, food safety, and customer service.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of meat cutting techniques, maintains clean and organized work areas, and takes pride in delivering fresh, high-quality products to customers.

Core Responsibilities
Meat Cutting & Product Preparation
Cut, trim, and prepare beef, pork, and poultry according to company standards
Prepare value-added products and portion-controlled cuts
Ensure product freshness, quality, and proper rotation
Follow proper cutting, wrapping, and labeling procedures

Department Operations
Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
Properly operate and maintain meat department equipment
Assist with opening and closing department procedures

Inventory & Merchandising
Assist with receiving and verifying deliveries
Monitor inventory levels and support ordering needs
Maintain attractive, well-stocked service cases and displays
Ensure pricing and labeling accuracy

Customer Service
Provide knowledgeable and friendly service to customers
Answer questions regarding meat cuts, preparation, and cooking methods
Assist customers with custom cutting requests when possible
Maintain a professional and helpful presence in the department

Qualifications & Requirements
Journeyman-level meat cutting experience required
2+ years of meat cutting experience
Knowledge of meat fabrication, trimming, and portioning
Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and temperature control standards
Ability to safely operate meat cutting equipment and tools
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality

Schedule Expectations
Primarily daytime shifts
Some weekends required
Full-time, in-store position
