This role offers a high-impact opportunity to strengthen and evolve global sanctions and financial crime compliance frameworks within a fast-scaling international organization. You will play a key role in ensuring robust adherence to AML, CFT, and sanctions regulations across multiple jurisdictions while supporting the safe expansion of global operations. The position sits within the second line of defense, acting as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex compliance cases. You will help design, implement, and continuously improve policies, controls, and monitoring systems that safeguard the business and its customers. This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with onboarding, transaction monitoring, and risk teams. The ideal candidate combines deep regulatory expertise with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and strong interest in automation and AI-driven compliance.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the organization’s compliance with sanctions, AML, and CFT regulations while strengthening the overall risk and control environment:

  • Act as a second-line compliance expert for sanctions, AML, and CFT matters, supporting onboarding and transaction monitoring teams
  • Ensure compliance with evolving global regulations across sanctions and financial crime frameworks, including UK, EU, and US requirements
  • Identify, assess, and advise on compliance and sanctions risks, recommending appropriate controls and mitigation strategies
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance policies and procedures covering CDD, EDD, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and fraud prevention
  • Support and conduct business-wide risk assessments and customer risk assessments across multiple jurisdictions
  • Coordinate AML/CFT audits and manage relationships with external compliance advisors and auditors
  • Oversee the effectiveness of the control environment and ensure alignment with regulatory and internal standards
  • Monitor regulatory changes and update internal processes, reporting frameworks, and guidance accordingly
  • Provide expert guidance and training to internal stakeholders on sanctions and financial crime compliance requirements

Requirements:
The ideal candidate brings strong financial crime compliance expertise, ideally within fintech or regulated financial services environments:

  • Proven experience in compliance, AML, sanctions, or financial crime roles, ideally within fintech or financial services
  • Strong knowledge of AML, CFT, and sanctions regulations across UK, EU, US, and/or other relevant jurisdictions
  • Experience in second-line compliance roles, with exposure to first-line compliance operations considered a plus
  • Professional AML or compliance certifications are highly desirable
  • Strong ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into operational policies and controls
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and compliance monitoring activities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to regulatory detail
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear guidance to cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated interest in automation, AI tools, and modern compliance technologies
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal
