SUMMER STUDENT JOB OPPORTUNITY

Communications Assistant - Photographer & Reporter - 12 weeks

Salary Range: $20.00 per hour

JOB SUMMARY:


The Communications Assistant – Photographer/Reporter supports the IT & Communications Department by helping capture and share community stories and events through photography and written content. Working alongside the Communications Team, this role assists in promoting community engagement by attending events, taking high-quality photos, and contributing written material for the monthly newsletter and other communication channels.

POSITION DUTIES:


  • Attend community events and activities as a representative of the Communications Team.
  • Capture clear, engaging, and high-quality photographs for newsletters, social media, and promotional materials.
  • Assist with writing articles, event summaries, and columns for the monthly newsletter.
  • Support the development of communication materials that promote community programs, initiatives, and events.
  • Organize and maintain digital photo files and communication content.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate and timely communication of community information.
  • Assist with additional communications and media-related tasks as assigned.


TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Preference will be given to members or residents of Sagamok Anishnawbek
  • Valid driver’s license is an asset
  • Must sign and comply with confidentiality requirements
  • Must provide a Criminal Record Check prior to employment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must demonstrate enrollment as a full-time student in the previous academic semester school and be returning full time in the fall of 2026/2027 Academic school year.
  • Must be eligible for Sagamok Anishnawbek ISETP program funding (member of Sagamok, valid SIN #)
  • Must have, or be willing to obtain First Aid, WHIMIS, & Health and Safety in 4 Steps
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, and email software
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, and able to work flexible hours (evenings, weekends) and be self-motivated.
  • Knowledge of and respect for Anishnawbek values, teachings, culture, and traditions is of critical importance.
