About This Position

Description:

Help keep vehicles on the road—and out of junkyards—by turning complex automotive components into like-new, OEM-performing remanufactured products. In this hands-on engineering role, you’ll own the engineering definition, repair strategy, validation, and continuous improvement of high-mix automotive remanufactured components, partnering daily with manufacturing, quality, testing, and suppliers.

About CRP

CRP is a 70-year old family/veteran owned business and is one of North America’s leading suppliers to the automotive and industrial service markets, providing the top professionals in North America with the quality components and innovative solutions they need to do their job. CRP Industries Inc. operates key remanufacturing and distribution centers throughout North America. As a third generation, veteran-owned family business, CRP is proud of our reputation for delivering Quality, Service, and Trust.

What you’ll do

• Support the engineering research and development of remanufactured automotive components (mechanical, electrical, electronic, and mechatronic assemblies).

• Create, update, and maintain drawings, schematics, bills of material (BOMs), work instructions, repair limits, and other engineering documentation.

• Define and improve repair methods/solutions for mechanical, electronic, and electromechanical subcomponents, products, and assemblies.

• Partner with manufacturing to support disassembly, inspection, repair, reassembly, and end-of-line testing in a high-mix remanufacturing environment.

• Support functional/performance testing and diagnostics; interpret test results, inspection data, and failure modes to troubleshoot issues and assist with root cause analysis.

• Design and develop components, tooling, jigs, and fixtures using 3D CAD (Fusion360/SolidWorks), 2D drawings, and DFM principles.

• Support in-house manufacturing/fabrication with hands-on exposure to CNC, lathes, and end milling equipment.

• Perform/assist with PFMEA, control plans, and other quality documentation; support closure of nonconformances and corrective actions.

• Support diagnosis of vehicle communication systems (CAN bus and FlexRay) issues for remanufactured products, and help manage configuration/software revisions as needed.

• Support supplier interactions related to components, repairs, and technical issues; ensure sourced components meet CRP Industries requirements.

• Contribute to cost, yield, and continuous improvement initiatives through repair optimization, improved reuse rates, and process efficiencies.

Requirements:

What you’ll bring

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.

• Experience: 2–5 years of engineering experience in automotive components, electronics, mechatronics, manufacturing, or remanufacturing (preferred).

• Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and technical documentation; comfort maintaining structured engineering documentation.

• Structured problem-solving mindset and strong analytical skills.

• Familiarity with diagnostic tools, inspection equipment, and test systems.

• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, shop-floor-friendly working style.

• Willingness to learn and work within quality systems and standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, or similar preferred).

• Exposure to lean / continuous improvement methods is a plus.

• Ability to work in and around manufacturing/testing areas; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs; occasional travel to suppliers or other company sites.
