About This Position

Senior DevOps Software Engineer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior DevOps Software Engineer in Canada.

In this role, you will contribute to the design, automation, and reliability of a modern cloud-based infrastructure supporting a large-scale digital learning platform. You will work at the intersection of software engineering and operations, building scalable, secure, and highly automated systems primarily on AWS. Your focus will be on improving developer experience through CI/CD optimization, Infrastructure as Code, and platform automation. You will play a key role in reducing operational friction by introducing modern tooling and AI-assisted workflows. Operating in a fully remote, collaborative engineering environment, you will partner closely with development teams to ensure fast, reliable, and secure delivery of software. This role also offers strong technical ownership and the opportunity to shape infrastructure best practices across the organization.

Accountabilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
  • Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, reliable, and automated software delivery.
  • Improve system reliability, observability, security, and cost efficiency across cloud environments.
  • Drive infrastructure automation initiatives, reducing manual processes and improving developer productivity.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve deployment workflows, testing strategies, and release processes.
  • Identify and implement AI-assisted and automation opportunities to enhance engineering efficiency and reduce operational toil.
  • Support agile development practices by participating in sprint planning, retrospectives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Mentor engineers on DevOps practices including cloud architecture, security best practices, and automation principles.
  • Contribute to platform engineering initiatives including reusable modules, internal tooling, and self-service infrastructure capabilities.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or software engineering with strong infrastructure focus.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Strong expertise in CI/CD systems (e.g., GitHub Actions or similar tools).
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
  • Solid understanding of cloud security, system reliability, and observability practices.
  • Strong programming skills in at least one language such as Python, Go, PHP, or C#.
  • Experience building and maintaining scalable distributed systems in cloud environments.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to take ownership of systems and drive end-to-end technical solutions.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to team technical growth.
  • Nice to have: exposure to modern AI-assisted development tools or automation frameworks.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote-first role based in Canada with flexible work arrangements.
  • Competitive compensation with a strong focus on fairness, transparency, and performance-based growth.
  • Opportunity to work on large-scale cloud infrastructure supporting global digital platforms.
  • Strong emphasis on engineering autonomy, ownership, and technical leadership development.
  • Continuous learning environment with exposure to modern DevOps, cloud, and AI technologies.
  • Collaborative and inclusive engineering culture focused on innovation and improvement.
  • Opportunity to influence platform architecture and DevOps best practices at scale.
