Tax Manager

This role offers an opportunity to lead complex tax compliance and advisory engagements within a dynamic, client-focused environment. You will serve as a trusted tax expert and primary point of contact for clients, ensuring accurate, timely, and high-quality deliverables across a range of tax matters. The position combines technical depth with leadership responsibilities, including supervising and mentoring staff while managing engagement timelines and budgets. You will play a key role in strengthening client relationships through proactive communication and strategic tax guidance. Working cross-functionally, you will help optimize processes, enhance service delivery, and maintain compliance with evolving tax regulations. This is a highly visible role that blends hands-on technical work with leadership and client-facing responsibilities.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will oversee tax compliance engagements end-to-end, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to professional standards while staying within scope and budget. You will act as the primary tax advisor for clients, managing communication, identifying opportunities for enhanced service, and maintaining strong relationships.

  • Lead and manage tax compliance engagements, including planning, scheduling, and execution aligned with deadlines and firm standards
  • Serve as the primary tax contact for clients, ensuring proactive communication and high-quality service delivery
  • Review tax workpapers, provisions, research, and final tax returns prepared by staff and senior accountants
  • Provide technical tax expertise across multiple areas and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards
  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior team members, supporting their development and performance
  • Collaborate with engagement leaders and contribute to firm-wide initiatives and process improvements
Requirements

The ideal candidate brings strong technical tax expertise combined with leadership and client management experience. You are comfortable managing multiple engagements, guiding teams, and communicating complex tax concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
  • CPA designation (required)
  • 5+ years of progressive tax experience in compliance and/or advisory roles
  • Strong knowledge of tax regulations, research methodologies, and review processes
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff in a professional services environment
  • Proficiency with tax and accounting tools (e.g., Axcess, RIA, Caseware, Excel, and related software)
  • Strong communication, organizational, and client management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
