About This Position
Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician supports safe and reliable plant operations by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment and facility systems. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical fundamentals, the ability to read schematics, and the discipline to document work completed and communicate across shifts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) and routine inspections on production equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient operation.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing issues as needed.
- Use diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeter/ohmmeter) to isolate faults, confirm repairs, and verify equipment performance.
- Support basic PLC troubleshooting (identify faults, verify sensors/inputs/outputs, assist with resets and root cause investigation).
- Perform welding/fabrication tasks for repairs, guards, brackets, and minor modifications (as qualified).
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals to diagnose problems and implement repairs.
- Complete a daily job card/shift log documenting work performed, downtime causes, parts used, and follow-up needs.
- Execute shift handoff communication (written notes and/or verbal pass-down) to ensure continuity of repairs and open work orders.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop area; follow all safety rules, including LOTO and required PPE.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years (or equivalent) experience in manufacturing/production maintenance with strong mechanical knowledge.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and perform repairs safely.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools (including an ohmmeter/multimeter).
- Ability to read and interpret schematics/wiring diagrams.
- Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal) and ability to document work clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) in a manufacturing environment.
- Welding experience/certification.
- Trade school or technical certifications (industrial maintenance, electrical, mechatronics, etc.).
- CMMS experience (work orders, PM scheduling, parts tracking).
- Prior lead/supervisory experience (helpful, not required).
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Regular exposure to a manufacturing environment (noise, moving machinery, temperature changes).
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods; climb stairs/ladders; bend/stoop; and lift up to 50 lbs.
