About This Position
The Director of Epic Clinical Applications provides leadership and coordination for Epic clinical applications and workflows across the health system. This role guides clinical application strategy and optimization in partnership with Clinical Informatics, Nursing, Medical Staff, and Quality leadership.
Performance Expectations:
• Leads clinical application teams with clarity, consistency, and accountability.
• Effectively partners with Clinical Informatics to support standardized, evidence-based workflows.
• Ensures clinical initiatives align with organizational priorities and timelines.
• Communicates effectively with clinical and executive stakeholders.
• Supports clinician adoption and sustained use of approved workflows.
• Maintains focus on patient safety, quality, and clinical efficiency.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
• Clinical initiative milestones met as scheduled.
• Reduction in rework or redesign due to misalignment with informatics standards.
• Improved clinician satisfaction with Epic workflows.
• Successful adoption of approved clinical enhancements.
• Positive quality and patient safety indicators linked to Epic optimization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and coordination for Epic clinical application teams.
• Guide clinical workflow optimization in collaboration with Clinical Informatics.
• Support clinical governance processes through analysis, recommendations, and impact assessments.
• Partner with nursing, physicians, case management, quality, and education teams.
• Ensure clinical application initiatives align with approved priorities and timelines.
• Support Epic upgrades, implementations, and optimization initiatives.
Application & Organizational Alignment:
• Clinical Epic application teams align through this role, excluding support and change management functions.
• Clinical Informatics retains final authority for clinical standards and workflow decisions.
• This role provides guidance and coordination but is not the final clinical decision-maker.
• Operational execution is coordinated with Epic Operations leadership.
Qualifications: Education/Skills Minimum of Bachelor Degree in nursing or related field required. Master’s degree preferred Work Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of Epic clinical application or informatics leadership experience. Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below- EPIC Certification
