Educator (Non- RN) at Westchester Medical Center – Valhalla, New York

Job Summary:

The Educator is responsible for the facilitation and training of American Heart Association classes including BLS, ACLS, and PALS for nursing and nursing support teams across all campuses of the WMCHealth Network.

Responsibilities:

• Instruct BLS/ACLS/PALS techniques and protocols to individuals and groups, ensuring adherence to the latest guidelines set by authoritative bodies.
• Demonstrate the proper use of equipment, including automated external defibrillators (AEDs), barrier devices, and other emergency response tools.
• Evaluate performance through practical and written tests to ensure that certification requirements are met.
• Customize training materials and methods according to the specific needs of different audiences, such as healthcare professionals, school staff, or community.
• Manage class logistics, including scheduling, venue preparation, and ensuring the availability of all necessary training equipment and materials.
• Provide feedback and coaching to students during practical exercises to improve their skills and confidence in emergency situations.
• Coordinate administrative tasks related to the certification process, including issuing certificates to participants who successfully complete the course.
• Advocate for the importance of training in the community by participating in public awareness campaigns and events.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience:

Current AHA provider status in discipline for that Instructor Course and be proficient in all skills of the discipline, including AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Heart Saver. Previous instructor experience required.

Education:

Associates degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred in a health-related field program.

Licenses / Certifications:

Current Instructor status through AHA (American Heart Association) is required. Paramedic license preferred.
