About This Position
A.T. Still University's School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) is seeking an Student Achievement Specialist on the Mesa, Arizona campus. This position reports to the Director of Student Achievement Team. The Student Achievement Success Specialist is responsible for development and delivery of College specific student services, academic advising support and career advising to all ATSU-SOMA students. The Director oversees the staff and programs of the Student Achievement Team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the 4 year academic support and advising program for ATSU-SOMA students, from pre-matriculation through graduation.
- Support the 4 year career counseling and advising program for ATSU-SOMA students, from pre-matriculation through graduation.
- Track and support students in need of additional academic support or other types of support to enhance their likelihood of success at ATSU-SOMA
- Counsel students needing improvement in academic or professional performance
- Participate in the development and delivery of DEI based support and curriculum for ATSU-SOMA students, faculty, and staff
- Support the resources developed by the Student Achievement Team including, but not limited to: ATSU SOMAGo app, SAT Website, ProgressIQ for student support and advising, Advisor Handbook, Board preparation materials.
- Participate in the production of the MSPE for graduating students
- Participate in Professional Development on campus and through national conferences as applicable to the work of the SAT
- Other duties as assigned by the Director, Student Achievement Team
Education & Experience:
- Masters Degree in Student Services, Education, Counseling or Related Field.
- Broad knowledge and experience in student services.
- One or two years of experience required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, emailing, and public speaking.
- Must be organized, have a collaborative mindset, and show professional behavior.
- Applicant must show compassion, patience, and approachability.
- The successful applicant will have demonstrated success promoting a culturally rich environment that values and appreciates diversity.
- The applicant should have a common understanding of bias, what it means to be culturally proficient, and demonstrated success at mitigating differences.
- The applicant should have familiarity with the principles and practice of osteopathic medicine.
