City Pool - Seasonal Lifeguard at City of Madisonville – Madisonville, Kentucky

TITLE: SEASONAL LIFEGUARD

PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION: The purpose of this classification is to provide recreational opportunities for the general public at the City’s Park Swimming Pool. Employees in this classification operate the City Park Swimming Pool and are responsible for the health, safety, and well-being of those who are using the City Park Swimming Pool.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• The employee is trained on the procedures of Lifeguarding and applies information to the daily operation of the swimming pool.
• Arrives on time (or early) every day and reviews daily assignments.
• Reports any misconduct to Pool Manager or Park Superintendent.
• Assists the pool manager with cleaning and the proper pool chemicals.
• Ensures swimming pool, pool deck, and equipment are kept and maintained in good condition.
• Cleans and maintains bathrooms, checks chemical levels, inventory, and various food services, cleans filters, sets up pool parties, and daily deposits, and locks up closing procedures.
• Operates a cash register, adding machines, or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
• Performs other related duties assigned by the Pool Manager or Park Superintendent.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

Assists with Pro Golf Shop duties and cleans grounds surrounding the work area. Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

CPR/First Class/ AED Certification and any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
