The Public Space Attendant at The Vanguard Hotel in Ann Arbor, MI plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and welcoming atmosphere of all public areas within the hotel. This position ensures that guests experience a pristine environment by performing routine cleaning, restocking supplies, and promptly addressing any maintenance issues. The attendant acts as a visible presence in public spaces, contributing to guest satisfaction through attentiveness and professionalism. By collaborating with other hotel departments, the attendant helps uphold the hotel's high standards of hospitality and operational excellence. Ultimately, this role supports the overall guest experience by creating a comfortable and inviting environment throughout the hotel’s public areas.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a cleaning, janitorial, or hospitality support role preferred but not required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Basic communication skills to interact effectively with guests and team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a hotel or hospitality environment.
  • Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and supplies, including proper handling and safety procedures.
  • Customer service experience with a focus on guest satisfaction.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
  • Basic knowledge of safety and sanitation regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of public spaces including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, and meeting rooms to ensure they meet the hotel’s cleanliness standards.
  • Monitor and replenish supplies such as towels, toiletries, and informational materials in public restrooms and common areas.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or guest concerns to the appropriate departments promptly to ensure swift resolution.
  • Assist guests by providing directions or information about hotel amenities and services when needed, maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor.
  • Collaborate with housekeeping and maintenance teams to coordinate efforts that enhance the overall guest experience and maintain operational efficiency.

Skills:

The Public Space Attendant utilizes strong organizational skills daily to manage cleaning schedules and ensure all public areas are consistently maintained.
