Senior Full Stack Developer (Ruby on Rails)

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer (Ruby on Rails) in the United States.
This role is a hands-on, senior-level position responsible for building and maintaining end-to-end software solutions in a fully remote, collaborative environment. You will work across the stack, leveraging both object-oriented and functional programming paradigms, while integrating Gen-AI tools into development workflows. The position requires strong technical expertise in Ruby on Rails, AWS, Docker, and source control, along with the ability to write clear technical documentation and contribute to scalable, maintainable systems. You will collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to design features, optimize performance, and mentor junior developers. This is an ideal opportunity for a proactive developer passionate about modernizing workflows in a fast-paced startup environment.
Accountabilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications using Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and AWS-based infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build end-to-end solutions with minimum coupling and high scalability.
  • Integrate Gen-AI tools into development processes and co-write technical documentation for new features.
  • Work with both object-oriented and functional programming paradigms to deliver maintainable code.
  • Participate in code reviews, mentor junior developers, and promote best practices across the team.
  • Utilize Docker for containerization and maintain version control through Git.
  • Optimize application performance, asset delivery, and database interactions, including PostgreSQL.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions, technical decision-making, and project planning in a remote startup environment.

Requirements:
  • 35 years of hands-on Ruby on Rails development experience.
  • 7+ years of professional coding experience.
  • AWS experience meeting one of the following:
  • 6+ years developing in AWS, or
  • 6+ years managing AWS cloud infrastructure, or
  • 4+ years AWS experience with a relevant AWS certification (DevOps Engineer Professional or Developer Associate preferred).
  • Familiarity with Gen-AI tools and their application in development workflows.
  • Strong understanding of Git and source control management.
  • Experience with Docker and containerized environments.
  • Knowledge of WebRTC, Stimulus/Hotwire/Importmaps, asset optimization, and PostgreSQL preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment with strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Passion for programming, project ownership, and mentoring junior team members.
