Delivery Helper at Swift Supply – Robertsdale, Alabama

Position Title: Delivery Helper

Reports to: Assistant Manager

Classification: Hourly

Department: Delivery

The successful candidate will enjoy helping others and working as part of a team. This individual takes pride in their work and understands the importance of safety, accuracy, and timeliness when delivering doors, windows, molding, and other building materials. The ideal candidate is dependable, willing to work hard, and committed to ensuring customers receive their orders in good condition.

Purpose of Position:

Assist the delivery driver with transporting and delivering customer orders including doors, windows, molding, and related building materials. Help load delivery trucks, unload products at customer locations, and ensure materials are handled safely and delivered accurately.

Essential Functions of the Job (must be able to perform these functions, with or without reasonable accommodation):

• Ride along with delivery driver to customer locations.

• Assist with loading delivery trucks with doors, windows, molding, and other building materials.

• Safely unload products at customer locations including jobsites, homes, and businesses.

• Help carry materials into homes, construction sites, or designated delivery areas as directed by the customer or driver.

• Verify delivery items against delivery paperwork to ensure correct quantities and products are delivered.

• Assist in securing loads in the truck to prevent shifting or damage during transport.

• Help organize and stage materials on the truck to ensure efficient deliveries.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the delivery truck.

• Communicate professionally with customers during deliveries.

• Assist driver with navigating delivery locations and confirming delivery details.

• Help return materials or products to the warehouse when necessary.

• Assist in warehouse as needed; help pull and stage orders as well as help in keeping the warehouse clean an organized

• Follow company safety procedures when lifting, carrying, and handling building materials.

• Assist supervisors, drivers, and other employees as needed.

• Attend staff meetings and safety training as required.

• Work scheduled shifts and comply with company attendance policies.

• Observe and practice all company safety procedures and policies.

• Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

• Demonstrates ability to follow instructions and directions.

• Ability to safely handle doors, windows, molding, and other building materials.

• Ability to work efficiently as part of a team.

• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and customers.

• Demonstrates attention to detail when verifying orders and deliveries.

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English effectively.

• Must be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards and properly wear required PPE.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 100 lbs; frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

• Must be able to handle large items such as doors and windows safely with team lifting when required.

• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

• Must regularly be able to bend, squat, twist, and reach overhead.

• Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively.

• Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors during deliveries.

Experience and Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

• Previous experience in delivery, moving, warehouse, or construction materials handling preferred but not required.

• Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.

Work Conditions:

• Work outdoors in temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold.

• Frequent lifting and handling of building materials including doors, windows, and molding.

• Regular travel between warehouse and delivery locations.
