The team is growing to include another experienced Preconstruction Estimator, you’ll play a vital role at the very beginning of the build journey, shaping outcomes before a shovel ever hits the ground. What You’ll Do:

In this role, you’ll report directly to the Director of Preconstruction and have influence on all aspects of the preconstruction process. You will guide the strategic direction of each project during its earliest stages through responsibilities such as:

  • Building and maintaining long-term relationships with subcontractors and key industry partners.
  • Staying current on market trends, material pricing, and construction cost fluctuations.
  • Prepare conceptual and budgetary estimates as well as detailed final bid proposals.
  • Ensure all budget quotes and proposals are complete, accurate, and professionally presented.
  • Partner with clients and subcontractors to develop project estimates.
  • Collaborate with the internal estimating team on project details and best practices.
  • Review bid documents and ensure full compliance in all prepared estimates.
  • Produce accurate quantity takeoffs and evaluate subcontractor bids/proposals.
  • Review engineering and design specifications to identify cost-saving alternatives (Value Engineering).
  • Support the full preconstruction cycle, from early conceptual analysis through final pricing.
  • Serve as a trusted resource to both internal teams and external partners by providing expertise in preconstruction, costing, sequencing, and market analysis.
  • Mentor, guide, and support junior estimators and project team members, helping develop their technical skills, judgment, and understanding of SIRQ’s standards and values.
Requirements:

What You’ll Bring:

You’ll be successful here if you bring a blend of technical skill, ownership mindset, and relationship-driven collaboration. Ideally, you have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • 5 years of local estimating experience with a commercial general contractor.
  • 15 years estimating experience (preferred)
  • Proven ability to mentor, train, and support less-experienced team members in estimating processes, tools, and best practices.
  • A leadership mindset and the confidence to represent SIRQ professionally with clients, design partners, and subcontractors.
  • Experience across commercial, municipal, higher education, hospitality, and especially multifamily markets.
  • Strong ability to read architectural and engineering drawings.
  • An analytical, detail-oriented mindset with exceptional accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of contracts and construction documents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical proficiency in On Screen Take off RS Means, SmartBid and MS Office Suite.
