Position Summary:

As a Steakhouse Bartender, you will play a pivotal role in delivering an exceptional dining experience by expertly crafting and serving a wide range of beverages tailored to complement our premium steakhouse menu. Your expertise in mixology and customer service will ensure guests enjoy both classic and innovative cocktails in a welcoming and sophisticated atmosphere. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar area while adhering to all health and safety regulations. Building rapport with guests and anticipating their needs will be essential to fostering repeat business and enhancing overall customer satisfaction. Ultimately, your contribution will directly impact the reputation and success of our steakhouse by elevating the beverage service to match the quality of our cuisine.

Although this is a tipped position, it is Fortune Bay Resort Casino’s policy that tips do not go home with the employee at the end of their shifts but are brought to the vault and will be paid out on the employee’s paycheck.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

The Steakhouse Bartender is responsible for the following duties:

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with standardized recipes, guest preferences, and Resort & Casino standards.
  • Take accurate drink orders and ensure timely, high-quality beverage service.
  • Engage guests in a friendly, professional manner by providing recommendations, answering questions, and creating a memorable experience.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers, wines, non-alcoholic selections, seasonal features, and menu changes within the assigned outlet.
  • Ensure responsible alcohol service by verifying age and identification, monitoring guest behavior, and knowing when and how to refuse service professionally and courteously.
  • Attend mandatory TIPS training and maintain required certifications.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper sanitation of the bar area, including glassware, tools, equipment, and bar top presentation.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper storage of beverages and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Monitor inventory levels, stock supplies, and communicate ordering needs to management.
  • Accurately handle cash and credit transactions, including processing payments and operating the point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff, and servers, to coordinate efficient and seamless guest service.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns or complaints, involving management when necessary.
  • Attend department meetings and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications – Education and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Previous bartending experience required; experience in a high-volume or upscale dining environment preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of mixology, cocktail recipes, and beverage preparation techniques.
  • Demonstrates strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills with guests and team members.
  • Possesses solid organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Basic math skills required for cash handling, tab management, and accurate transactions.
  • Ability to work efficiently and maintain composure in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Works collaboratively as a team player to support overall restaurant operations.
  • Strong customer service focuses on delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • Friendly, outgoing personality with the ability to engage and build rapport with guests.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying bar supplies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in bartending or mixology from a recognized institution.
  • Experience working in a steakhouse, fine dining, or upscale restaurant environment.
  • Strong knowledge of wine, beer, and spirits, including the ability to make pairing recommendations.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic inventory management practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism, confidence, and composure.

Skills needed:

The required skills such as mixology knowledge and customer service are essential for crafting beverages that meet guest expectations and create a welcoming environment. Communication skills enable the bartender to engage with patrons effectively, understand their preferences, and provide personalized recommendations. Physical stamina and organizational skills are used daily to maintain a clean and efficient bar area while managing multiple orders simultaneously. Preferred skills like familiarity with POS systems and inventory management streamline operations and ensure accurate transaction processing and stock control. Additionally, knowledge of wine and spirits enhances the ability to suggest pairings that complement the steakhouse menu, elevating the overall dining experience.

Work Environment:

The work environment is fast-paced and requires overall good mental and physical health.

Physical Demands:

Job-specific abilities and requirements include:

Ability to perform repetitive wrist movement with keys, guiding motorized carts that weigh 800 to 1200 lbs., long periods of sitting, walking, stooping, bending, and crawling in confined areas. Extensive computer use is required. Must have the ability to tolerate various scents, noises, and bright lights.
