Location: This position will be at a Hagerman construction site. This is not a remote position.

Job Summary:

The MEP Superintendent is responsible for leading and managing MEP field operations on assigned projects to ensure completion within established budget, schedule, safety, and quality standards. This role provides leadership and mentoring to field teams, oversees subcontractors and resources, and drives planning, coordination, and problem-solving efforts to support successful project delivery. As a senior technical professional, the MEP Superintendent works independently to achieve defined operational objectives, exercises sound judgment within established procedures, and maintains budgetary accountability. The role requires collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders, including owners, architects, engineers, and contractors.

MEP Superintendent Key Responsibilities:

  • Articulate project goals; assess personnel skill levels, assign work appropriately, and regularly review performance to support development and accountability.
  • Collaborate with project team members to consistently meet schedule and budget requirements while maintaining a high sense of urgency and flexibility in shifting priorities.
  • Analyze contract documents and project turnover materials to plan means and methods, support timely procurement of labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors, and align execution with the building cycle and owner/architect expectations.
  • Partner with Project Management to develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring key deadlines and milestones are achieved.
  • Work closely with Project Management to monitor and control project costs, including labor, materials, general conditions, and tools/equipment.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with all project stakeholders; proactively manage and resolve interpersonal conflicts to acceptable outcomes.
  • Understand, enforce, and manage subcontractor scopes of work in accordance with contract documents and project requirements.
  • Conduct effective, regular progress meetings that address milestone dates, coordination needs, anticipated issues, and safety requirements.
  • Ensure project quality for self-performed and subcontractor work in compliance with project specifications and QA/QC policies; identify deficiencies and issue required documentation.
  • Produce accurate and timely daily reports, short-interval schedules, material logs, extra work documentation, record drawing updates, timesheets, and quantity tracking.
  • Lead project safety efforts by conducting toolbox talks, site and equipment inspections, and enforcing Corporate Safety Policies to meet company safety goals.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with Owners, Architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other project partners throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform additional duties related to project supervision and field operations as requested.


Qualifications:

    • High School diploma or equivalent required; BA/BS/AS or other accredited degree may substitute for up to four (4) years of experience.
    • Minimum nine (9) years of progressive field construction experience, including experience as a trades worker, foreperson, Assistant Project Superintendent, or similar role, with at least four (4) years in a field supervisory position.
    • High level of technical knowledge and problem-solving capability derived from construction- or engineering-related training and experience.
    • Proficiency in reading plans and specifications with a comprehensive understanding of MEP systems and the overall construction industry, including mechanical, electrical, and related disciplines.
    • Demonstrated ability to understand and manage project finances, including labor, cost tracking, and budget impacts.
    • Proven effective verbal and written communication skills, along with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
    • Valid driver’s license with a motor vehicle record that meets standards of insurability.
    • Proficiency with project management software (Procore preferred) and the Microsoft Suite, including the ability to interpret cost spreadsheets, aging reports, and labor productivity reports.
    • Working knowledge of contract administration processes, including RFIs, Schedule of Values, monthly billings, and construction scheduling concepts such as predecessors, successors, constraints, float, and lags.
