About This Position
OVERVIEW
The primary role of this position is to support on-campus movement of trailers, tankers, flat beds, and any other movements of product between plants. CDL Required.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
- Performs pre-trip inspections on vehicle and reports any problems to the onsite maintenance department and/or takes equipment to the shop for repairs. DVIR required.
- Ensure trucks are fueled.
- Responsible for keeping the truck and trailers clean and organized.
- Transport loads to Peterson Farms from assigned destination.
- Ensure load has the proper paperwork as to what is being transferred.
- Occasionally transfer non-perishable items such as packaging supplies, equipment, etc. from plant to plant.
- Rotate on-call for weekends paid in 4-hour increments per call-ins for tanker swaps at plants.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Transfer product via CMV road tractor to freezer facility across town (5 miles each way).
- Will be required to present for random DOT screens.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Class A CDL required
Work Experience
- One year manufacturing experience desirable
- Two years CDL driving experience required
Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to read, interpret and follow written job instructions.
- Ability to work safely and follow all safety procedures & report safety violations.
- Ability to follow and comply with quality standards.
- Ability to comprehend and comply with GMP rules and Food Safety guidelines.
- Required to obtain company-issued hilo license and operate hilos/forklifts.
- Ability to work as contributing member within the team.
- Ability to frequently lift/move material weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate a PC (keyboard/mouse) and respond to emails.

ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Lifts material/product weighing up to 30 pounds frequently (with assistance); lifts material/product weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally (with assistance).
- Stands, walks, uses hands/fingers to handle or feel, uses hands/arms to reach, sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, and crawls while performing functions of position.
- Constant mental and visual alertness (including peripheral vision and depth perception) required to avoid serious injury to self and others and to perform quality functions of position.
- Color vision may be required to perform quality function of position.
- Eye, hearing, hair nets, bump hats, lab coats may be required.
