This role plays a crucial part in ensuring accurate and compliant processing of participant retirement plan distributions. You will manage 401(k) distribution requests, including terminations, hardships, loans, RMDs, and QDROs, ensuring all actions meet IRS regulations and plan provisions. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys detail-oriented work, thrives in a high-volume environment, and values accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. You will monitor recordkeeping platforms, create and manage cases in Salesforce, train new team members, and provide backup support during peak periods. - Process and approve all types of distribution requests in accordance with IRS regulations and plan provisions, including lump sum withdrawals, loans, hardships, RMDs, QDROs, and death benefit claims
- Ensure all requests are complete, accurate, and compliant by verifying forms, documentation, and signatures
- Identify and resolve “Not in Good Order” (NIGO) requests by communicating professionally with participants, sponsors, and advisors
- Prepare and submit distribution requests within internal deadlines, monitor recordkeeping platforms, and maintain accurate Salesforce case records
- Assist in training and onboarding new employees, providing guidance, instructions, and job shadowing opportunities
- Serve as backup support for colleagues during absences, ensuring uninterrupted workflow and service standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support initiatives, respond to inquiries, and contribute to high-volume or special projects
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience in retirement plan administration
- Minimum 2 years of experience processing 401(k) distributions in a TPA or recordkeeping environment
- Strong understanding of retirement plan distribution types and compliance requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Strong analytical, math, and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities
- Comfortable learning new systems and tools such as Salesforce and Relius
- High level of service orientation toward clients and internal teams
- Competitive salary: $48,000 – $55,000 annually
