The VP of Risk, Sustainability, and Environmental Affairs will lead enterprise-wide programs to identify, assess, and mitigate risks while advancing sustainability and environmental initiatives. This role is responsible for developing and implementing risk management frameworks, overseeing EHS programs, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The position partners with executive leadership, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders to strengthen business resiliency, physical security, and sustainability performance. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with operational rigor, bringing expertise in risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement. This role offers the opportunity to shape policies and practices that protect and enhance organizational value while driving long-term sustainable growth.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise risk management frameworks and policies, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives
  • Conduct risk assessments and support mitigation strategies, including contingency planning, audits, and controls monitoring
  • Oversee business resiliency and physical security programs, ensuring preparedness and continuity across operations
  • Direct sustainability strategy and environmental initiatives, setting targets, KPIs, and monitoring progress to achieve organizational goals
  • Ensure environmental compliance and manage climate-related risk, including internal reporting and regulatory adherence
  • Provide guidance, tools, and training to employees and risk owners to embed risk awareness, compliance, and sustainability into business practices
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive a culture of risk-conscious, sustainable decision-making

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field
  • 15+ years of experience in corporate risk management, including the development and implementation of enterprise risk frameworks
  • 5+ years of senior/executive leadership experience in the biotech, pharmaceutical, or related industry
  • Strong knowledge of business resiliency, physical security, and EHS strategy development and implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, engage stakeholders, and influence executive leadership and board-level committees
  • Experience monitoring emerging trends and best practices in risk management, sustainability, and environmental compliance
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex issues and diverse stakeholders
  • Track record of continuous improvement, innovation, and delivering measurable results in risk and sustainability programs
