This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead mission-critical Identity and Access Management operations for a large-scale federal IT environment. You will manage a multidisciplinary team ensuring secure, reliable, and compliant access to enterprise systems, while collaborating with engineering, security, and agency stakeholders. The position requires a proactive leader who can drive operational excellence, implement automation, and continuously improve system reliability and scalability. You will oversee incident management, system monitoring, and process optimization, ensuring uptime and performance meet rigorous standards. This role blends hands-on technical oversight with strategic leadership, providing visibility and impact across critical IT infrastructure. You will thrive in a dynamic environment where your decisions directly influence security, compliance, and operational success.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and manage operations, support engineers, and administrators responsible for IAM system availability, performance, and security
  • Oversee incident response, root cause analysis, problem resolution, and continuous monitoring to minimize downtime and service disruptions
  • Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to implement automation, monitoring, and reliability improvements
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for deployment, configuration, monitoring, and IAM resource management
  • Coordinate IAM feature rollouts, upgrades, and compliance activities with security teams and agency stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, monitoring enhancements, proactive issue identification, and scalability planning
  • Ensure compliance with disaster recovery, business continuity, and federal IT security standards (FISMA, NIST SP 800-53)
  • Monitor KPIs and service levels, implementing corrective actions to maintain operational excellence
Requirements:
  • 10+ years managing mission-critical IT operations in highly regulated environments
  • 7+ years of direct experience in IAM operations, identity lifecycle management, or related fields
  • Hands-on or team oversight experience with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Jenkins) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience collaborating with SRE teams to enhance system reliability and implement monitoring strategies
  • Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills for technical teams and senior stakeholders
  • Expertise in IAM solutions, SSO, authentication methods (SAML, OAuth, MFA), and directory services (LDAP, Active Directory)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and hybrid environments
  • Knowledge of incident management frameworks, monitoring tools (Splunk, ServiceNow), and compliance standards
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field; Splunk certification; experience in federal identity governance initiatives
  • Soft Skills: Servant leadership, adaptability in fast-paced environments, and ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Must be eligible for Public Trust clearance
