About This Position
Histotechnologist Pathology

JOB RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to the Pathology Technical Coordinator. Works under the direct supervision and instructions of the Pathologist.

DEFINITION OF POSITION
- The Histotechnologist utilizes independent judgment in performing routine and complex histologic procedures. In addition this individual performs and documents daily quality control procedures; documents corrective action when quality control results exceed tolerance limits; recognizes and documents quality assurance problems and opportunities for improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

Professional
- High School graduate or equivalent and,
- Training in an accredited Histotechnologist program or equivalent training and internship under a Pathologist and,
- Minimally requires thorough knowledge of histologic science and the ability to identify basic tissues and,
- HT (ASCP) certification.
- Possesses basic understanding of computers and/or is willing to learn.
