Position Overview:

The Project Manager Industrial Coatings will be responsible for overseeing and executing coating and lining projects from kickoff through closeout, with active involvement in both field operations and office coordination. This role is accountable for safety, quality, production, and financial performance, ensuring all work is performed in strict accordance with project specifications, surface preparation standards, and coating manufacturer requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and communication skills, along with the ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and coating systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of industrial coating projects including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and contract compliance.
• Read and interpret project drawings, specifications, coating system data sheets, and inspection requirements (AMPP/SSPC, ASTM, AWWA, etc.).
• Coordinate and direct field operations including surface preparation, coating application, curing, and inspection activities.
• Work closely with superintendents, foremen, inspectors, and coating manufacturers to ensure proper execution.
• Monitor daily production, verify surface prep standards (SP6, SP10, WJ standards, etc.), and ensure coating quality and DFT compliance.
• Identify and resolve field issues impacting adhesion, profile, environmental conditions, or production.
• Lead client communication, including progress meetings, technical discussions, and issue resolution.
• Prepare and manage submittals, RFIs, coating system approvals, and change orders.
• Track project costs, labor productivity, and equipment utilization to maintain profitability.
• Coordinate labor, equipment (blast pots, compressors, DH units, spray equipment), and materials.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, containment requirements, and environmental regulations.
• Maintain accurate project documentation including daily reports, inspection reports, and coating logs.
• Support billing, T&M tracking, and change order documentation.
• Drive project closeout including punch list completion, final inspections, and turnover documentation.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of project management experience in industrial coatings, painting, or related field
• Strong knowledge of surface preparation and coating application standards (AMPP/SSPC, NACE, ASTM)
• Ability to read and interpret coating specifications, drawings, and inspection requirements
• Experience managing field crews, coating inspectors, and subcontractors
• Proven ability in cost control, scheduling, and contract administration
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• AMPP/NACE Coatings Inspector Certification (preferred)
• Experience with industrial equipment and coating application methods (conventional, plural component, UHP, etc.)
