THE POSITION
The customer-focused Network Support Specialist for the DISN Consolidated Provisioning team at Fort Meade, Maryland, will support all stages of the provisioning process, including order entry, preparation, solution design, and circuit activation. This expert will also help with customer outreach, Quality of Service (QoS) configuration, commercial leasing, and facilities engineering. The main responsibilities will be to ensure the DISN network operates efficiently and meets the needs of mission partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Technical and Administrative Support: Provide high-level support for network infrastructure and order entry, utilizing knowledge of DISA programs and systems. Ensure compliance with DISA strategic plans and network layers.
- Network Management: Collect, manage, monitor, troubleshoot, and implement network requirements for large-scale networks (CAN, MAN, WAN) for both classified and unclassified systems. Oversee network design, implementation, and optimization.
- Architecture Implementation: Develop and implement software, hardware, and communications architectures to meet current and future needs. Manage and secure various networks, and support planning, implementation, and administration.
- System Analysis: Analyze and approve system developments. Address complex issues related to technology and ensure mission readiness by following standards like OSI and IEEE.
- Server Configuration: Administer network servers, optimize performance, and support network administration functions. Manage diverse equipment and configurations.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with diverse teams and prepare thorough documentation and technical specifications. Address and resolve customer issues, perform Root Cause Analysis, and monitor results.
- Problem-Solving: Evaluate and address network issues. Work with internal teams, customers, and vendors to provide solutions for voice, data, and image communications.
- Design and Tracking: Use tools to evaluate network usage and develop technical and cost-effective solutions. Plan and implement network management systems.
- Performance Monitoring: Analyze and resolve issues related to applications, systems, and vendor software. Conduct performance tuning and system maintenance.
- Innovation and Quality: Seek improvements, follow quality processes, meet customer needs, and manage system upgrades. Adhere to standard operating procedures.
- Compliance: Follow all safety, security, and policy requirements. Complete training and certifications as needed. Duties may change to support customer and mission needs.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- 100% on-site in Fort Meade, MD.
- Minimum Active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to be Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) indoctrinated; AND,
- Highschool diploma; AND,
- 2+ years of military experience in a communications field or an applicable technical discipline; OR,
- 2+ years in an accredited technical training program, including 1 year experience in an applicable communication field; OR
- 2+ years of experience in a communication field or applicable technical discipline.
