About This Position
COURIER - AOH PLANT OPERATION
Position Summary The purpose of this position is to transport business-related materials to and/or from various sites; to include, but not limited to, hospitals, pharmacies, offices, banks, post offices, and other various local events. Department Summary The Laboratory provides clinical testing in the areas of hematology, coagulation, immunohematology urinalysis, chemistry and toxicology. Primary testing clients include the Emergency Department, Same Day Surgery, various Aultman Orrville Hospital inpatient departments, in addition to serving Aultman Health System outpatients and Aultman Laboratory Services Clients. This highly automated clinical laboratory offers an extensive test menu and performs close to 350,000 tests a year. Qualifications

- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Applicable background checks must be passed. Including driving record of less than 4 points.

Responsibilities & Expectations
- Perform routine transportation of deliverables:
- Bank deposits
- Lab specimens
- Post office/interoffice mail
- Department equipment
- Office supplies
- Other items as requested
- Navigate delivery routes associated with requested deliverables/pickups
- Maintains accurate logs, records, receipts and other required documentation
- Utilize courier telephone to communicate with internal and external customers appropriately.
- Mentor and train new employees by providing a positive experiential learning environment.
- Performs occasional tasks associated with the hospital’s Emergency Operations Plan
- Vehicle Operations
- Maintain safe driving record in accordance with Aultman’s insured driver policy
- Performs daily inspections on courier vehicle(s)
- Routine fueling and washing to ensure safety and proper care
- Check all fluids
- Tire pressure
- Schedules routine and preventative maintenance to be completed by vendor
- Performs vehicle drop of/pick up from vendor
- Recognize and practice the highest level of integrity and honesty in maintaining the confidentiality of patient
- Participate in hospital competency and continuing education programs.
- Responsible for checking emails and online learning assignments on a regular basis.
- Exercise professional judgment to recognize, prioritize and facilitate varying test requests and workload in an efficient manner.
- Participate department meetings as required.
- Is aware of and adheres to regulatory guidelines.
- Think critically and work efficiently in high stress situations
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, nursing units, providers, and laboratory leadership.
- Uses Tools and Tones for High Reliability in order to promote a culture of safety.
- Accepts responsibilities and maintains an attitude conducive to a cooperative and productive work environment.
- Adheres to all policies described in the Aultman Hospital Code of Conduct and Employee Handbook.
Working Conditions
- Work eight hours a day. 830am – 5pm or as required for the job.
- Occasional weekends and holidays as assigned.
- Occasional on-call coverage as assigned.
- Lunch periods and breaks are coordinated with delivery/pickups.
Hazardous Exposure Category
Category I - Includes tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for spills or splashes of, or mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues are Category I tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
