About This Position
Position Summary:
The Tasting Room Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the tasting room, ensuring a smooth and successful customer experience while supporting the team of Tasting Room Associates. This position focuses on managerial and leadership duties such as opening and closing the tasting room, managing daily sales and deposits, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and procedures. The Tasting Room Supervisor will also assist the team as needed and act as a liaison between the tasting room staff and management.
Responsibilities:
1. Opening and Closing Procedures:
- Oversee the setup and closing of the tasting room, ensuring all stations are prepared, cleaned, and organized for the day.
- Manage daily cash handling, including balancing registers, managing cash deposits, and ensuring accuracy of the point-of-sale system.
- Lock and secure the tasting room at the end of each shift, ensuring all inventory and property are accounted for and secured.
2. Sales and Inventory Management:
- Monitor and manage daily sales operations, ensuring associates are meeting goals and providing an exceptional customer experience.
- Oversee wine and merchandise inventory levels and coordinate with management for replenishment when needed.
- Assist with restocking and maintaining product displays to optimize customer interaction and sales.
3. Team Leadership and Support:
- Lead and supervise tasting room associates, providing guidance and assistance throughout the shift.
- Support associates in handling customer inquiries, sales, and challenging situations.
- Serve as a point of contact for team members and escalate any issues to management when necessary.
4. Cash Management and Deposits:
- Ensure accuracy of cash management procedures, including daily deposits and reporting to management.
- Review sales reports and assist with tip calculations.
5. Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure the tasting room complies with all state and federal regulations regarding alcohol service.
- Oversee safety procedures and maintain a safe environment for guests and employees.
- Ensure that all staff maintain proper certifications, such as the required Sheriff’s Work Card for Nye County.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within the food and beverage or hospitality industry, preferably in a tasting room or winery setting.
- Previous experience working with wine is required.
- Strong passion for wine with a solid understanding of wine sales, inventory management, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with point-of-sale systems, cash management, and computer software.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and peak event times as needed.
- Must have a driver’s license & reliable transportation.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and hold or be willing to obtain a Sheriff’s Work Card for Nye County.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
