About This Position

Job Summary: The Behavioral Support Mentor works side-by-side with the client's caregivers, role modeling and coaching in the implementation of behavior support plans, data collection techniques, de-escalation and management strategies.

Mount Olivet Rolling Acres – MORA – is a diverse and inclusive nonprofit that has supported adults, seniors and children with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs as well as age-related and chronic medical conditions for over 50 years in the Twin Cities metro.

MORA provides an array of services: Adult Day Services, Contracted Case Management, Community Supports, over 30 Residential Homes, Respite, Therapeutic Recreation, Training for Guardians & Families, and a Discover Summer Daytime Programming for Youth with Disabilities. Our Metro Crisis Coordination Program (MCCP) offers a safety net of crucial and cost-effective services for adults and children.

Hourly Pay Rate: Starting at $26.50

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Functions in various settings, including but not limited to family homes, group homes, day programs, and foster homes
  • Drive throughout the 7 county metro areas to the various work assignments.
  • Mentors’ clients, staff, family members, and day program personnel through role modeling.
  • Works with client’s with extremely challenging behaviors, including but not limited to physical aggression, verbal aggression, property destruction, manipulation, sexually inappropriate behavior, elopement and theft
  • Supports to help maintain a client’s current placements (residence/school/day program/work)
  • Communicates information, observations, and ideas to the MCCP Behavior Outreach Specialists/Case Lead
  • Attends regular 1:1 with assigned supervisor as scheduled
  • Timely documentation of daily case notes/EVV/timecards
  • Works harmoniously with and shows respect for employees, supervisors, vendors and clients
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Attend monthly staff mtgs
  • Completes annually required trainings
  • Provides person-centered services demonstrated through practice, action, and language
  • Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA and MORA policies and procedures.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher level of education preferred.
  • Meets QIDP professional standards.
  • At least five years of direct care experience supporting persons with intellectual disabilities, related conditions.
  • The ability to engage in physical activities such as non-aversive physical crisis intervention techniques
  • One year direct experience working with extremely challenging behaviors (physical/property/self-aggression).
  • One year of experience with individuals with co-occurring mental health diagnoses.
  • One year of experience providing collaborative support with caregivers in the field.
  • Experience with preventative behavioral management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • High level of organizational skills and proven ability to work independently.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must pass Department of Human Services background check and maintain “qualified” status
  • Must not be excluded from working in government health programs by the Office of Inspector General
  • Must have a current valid drivers license and must have insurance as required by state law
  • Must be able to successfully complete company’s physical job demands document
  • Flexibility in multiple environments and work hours/times
  • Must have knowledge of basic computer skills
