Summary:
Civil Engineer I is an integral part of project teams, gaining foundational experience in the civil aspects of oil and gas
infrastructure. This role assists in design, analysis, and documentation, working under the guidance of more experienced engineers.
An excellent entry-level opportunity for a passionate civil engineer eager to learn and contribute to significant projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of civil engineering drawings, plans, and specifications (e.g., site layouts, grading plans, drainage designs, foundation details).
- Conduct of basic engineering calculations and analyses under supervision.
- Support for data collection and site investigations, including reviewing geotechnical reports and topographical surveys.
- Aid in the development of material take-offs and preliminary cost estimates.
- Preparation and organization of project documentation, reports, and technical memos.
- Learning and application of relevant industry codes, standards, and company procedures (e.g., API, ASCE, local building codes).
- Collaboration with other engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical, process) to ensure design integration.
- Participation in design reviews and contribution to problem-solving.
- Some travel may be required.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of civil engineering principles, including soil mechanics, structural analysis, and hydraulics.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Team player – able to communicate and relate well with others.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional lifting of office supplies or equipment up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to move around the office for daily tasks and meetings, and job site visits, when required.
