About This Position

Summary:
Oversees the organization, procedures and operation of the specific areas of the Accounting department; provides team members with effective leadership and guidance in regards to accomplishing the goals and objectives of the department’ performs accounting functions and maintains records in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), established policies and procedures, Tribal, State, and NIGC requirements; performs duties in a guest service friendly, efficient and profitable manner that promotes superior team member, guest and vendor relations.
Essential Functions:
• Responsible for personnel functions and supervision of assigned team members, such as; interviewing, hiring, orientation, training, development, supervision, delegations and disciplinary actions; will perform these functions in a timely manner.
• Compiles, enters and/or maintains information in computer systems, accounting software, and HRIS database.
• Provides Title 31 training for new hires and secondary for annual requirements.
• Reviews and reconciles documentation of the transfer of chips and cash to and from the gaming operation and cashier’s cage.
• Designs and implements accounting data collection and review system.
• Designs, implements, monitors, and evaluates accounting financial management and reporting systems.
• Balances General Ledger accounts and compiles statistical reports.
• Prepares monthly reports (financial summaries).
• Maintains appropriate specialized casino records according to internal control policy procedures.
• Support month-end and year-end financial close process.
• Work closely with external and internal financial auditors annually and provide required statements and information for audits.
• Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Reviews & approves accounts payable invoice and check batches, making adjusting entries where applicable.
• Oversees and reviews Purchasing processes.
• Oversees and reviews Revenue Audit processes.
• Oversees and reviews Vault Audit processes.
• Reviews all general ledger detail for specified accounts; assists in the balancing of the general ledger monthly when necessary.
• Assists in the preparation of closing entries for the end of the month for assigned accounts and balances with the general ledger.
• Ensures compliance with procedures and any other applicable laws, policies, and procedures that apply to the Accounting department.
• May assist with maintenance and process in the completion of casino financial transactions and financial statements through trial balance process.
• Provides a high standard of professionalism and guest service.
• Maintains confidentiality, as required by law, regulation, and policy.
• Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Minimum Qualifications):
• Must be at least 18 years or older.
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Associates Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or closely related field AND at least one year (12 months) of successful work experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of this position; OR,
• A combination of post-secondary education and progressively responsible work experience totaling three (3) years experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP regulations and principles.

• Skill in identifying and resolving administrative problems under pressure conditions.
• Ability to understand, speak, communicate and read the English language.
• Must be computer literate with proficiency in windows-based programs and knowledge to operate general office equipment, software and databases.
• Ability to perform multifaceted projects, in conjunction with normal activities.
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and management about the finances of the business and justify certain financial recommendations.
• Ability to analyze data from multiple information ports by comparing and contrasting data to draw a conclusion or to identify trends.
• Ability to communicate professionally in written, verbal, and non-verbal format while portraying a friendly tone, word choice, and body language.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Must successfully complete Title 31, Banking Secrecy Act training upon hire and annually.
• Ability to work variable hours including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must possess current Washington State Driver’s License.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid Tribal Gaming License.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
• Manual and finger dexterity as required to perform daily job duties.
• Ability to frequently sit for prolonged periods of time.
• Ability to occasionally walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to frequently bend, squat and reach.
• Ability to frequently push, pull and move items.
• Ability to comprehend complex issues.
• Sufficient visual acuity to write, recognize printed materials, computer screen, and notice non-verbal behavior.
• Speech and hearing ability to project voice to small and large audiences, carry on telephone conversations, hear and grasp verbal communications and equipment prompts.
• Ability to drive in adverse weather conditions.
• May be exposed to a high level of noise in the work environment.
• May be exposed to tobacco smoke, fumes or airborne particles.
