About This Position
Reports to: Manager of Finance
Classification: Full time, Non - Exempt
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Accountant will ensure that all financial transactions are reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and processed in an accurate and timely manner. Responsibilities include posting journal entries and other financial transactions, verifying the coding for all transactions, executing close procedures, and assisting in preparing all necessary financial reports and statements.
Essential Functions
- Prepare and record journal entries and other financial transactions, and maintain general ledger
- Post and reconcile electronic funds transfer files daily
- Reconcile cash and receivable ledger accounts daily
- Complete month-end reconciliations of general ledger accounts
- Assist in monthly/quarterly/annual closing and preparation of financial reports and statements, which may include profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow, variance analysis, and regulatory reports/filings
- Assist in reporting and research as needed for both internal and external users
- Assist in annual external audit preparation and associated deliverables.
- Collect, compile, and verify financial data to ensure the integrity of accounting records and accuracy of related deliverables
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial data
- Perform Accounts Receivable duties, including generating invoices to external customers, accepting payments, and monitoring aging of receivables
- Perform Accounts Payable tasks such as data entry, verification, and proper coding. Prepare associated transfers and payments after obtaining appropriate authorization.
- Assist in maintaining accounting policies and procedures
- Assist in maintaining a system of controls over accounting transactions

- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Required Education and Experience
- Associate's Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 1+ years of experience doing various accounting related duties or related office experience
