Mechanical Assembly Technician at Barbee Valve And Supply, Inc – Reno, Nevada

JOB SUMMARY:

Main duty is to assemble Portable Test Units, and assist with Custom Test Stand assembly as needed.

Job candidates with experience in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing/tubing fields are preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Build Portable Test Stand units using tube benders, swage tools, and various hand tools.

2. Works in assigned areas or on special projects as needed.

3. Use of hand tools such as: wrenches, grinders, sanders, skill saws, drills and drill presses.

4. Assist with building of crates/pallets to ship large Test Stand orders.

5. Maintain a clean and organized work space, responsible for building maintenance as needed.

6. Performs pickup and delivery of materials as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to work hand power tools, tighten nuts with wrenches, and tube benders is essential.

2. Ability to drive a forklift preferred.

3. Ability to lift 60lbs without assistance.

4. Physical agility needed to climb and good balance is required.

5. Bending and stooping to install pressure lines and hoses is required.

6. Work may include prolonged hours of standing and crouching on concrete, in and around the test stands.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Mechanically inclined is a requirement.

2. Knowledge of plumbing, piping and instrumentation diagrams is preferred.

3. Working knowledge of hand power tools, tape measures and calipers.

4. Need to work well as part of a team, and do well when given a job to perform alone.

5. Must be able to follow verbal instructions closely and perform without constant supervision.

6. Must be able to maintain good working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, management, and other departments.

7. Ability to read and understand drawings preferred.
