Title: Pharmacy Intern - Pharmacy Job Code:700242 Department/Location: Pharmacy FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Reports to: Director of Pharmacy,
Assistant Director of Pharmacy, Pharmacy Manager, Registered Pharmacist
Position Summary
The Pharmacy Intern performs pharmacy functions under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. Duties include but are not limited to: Pharmacist support including answering phones and processing medication demands, filling patient specific medication, Cleanroom/ IV support including compliance with USP Chapter 797 and 800 procedures, filling and maintaining the Pyxis MedStations, filling floor stock orders, filling and replacement of emergency kits, medication packaging, inventory management, performing various computer functions relating to billing, printing labels and reports and maintaining regulatory standards. Assist pharmacy personal in any quality performance improvement projects and patient specific studies and data collection reports with the review of patient’s profiles.

Education & Experience Requirements
High School Diploma required
Enrolled or Graduated from an accredited school of Pharmacy Current New York State Limited Pharmacy Intern Permit
In accordance with NYS ED Article 137 §6806 a limited permit for employment as a "pharmacy intern" can be registered to:

May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access).
Must be physically able to move, remove and transport heavy objects more than 30 lbs
Position requires ability to ambulatory, sit/stand for extended periods of time, perform difficult manipulative arm-hand steadiness and hand-eye coordination skills. Must be physically able to meet all regulatory requirements
Must have the ability to concentrate for extended periods of time and with distractions Must maintain respectful and professional environment.
Individual must be able to understand theories behind several related concepts and remember multiple tasks given during the course of a day.
Must be physically able to meet all regulatory requirements.
Sees objects closely and far away and hears normal sounds with some background noises.
Tasks that involve exposure to chemotherapeutic agents. Requires the knowledge and use of Universal Precaution techniques.
