About This Position

Position Summary:

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a strategic role within the Human Resources Department for the Flint Center for Educational Excellence. This position reports directly to the Human Resources Director and is pivotal to ensuring that HR strategies are aligned with the organization’s goals. The HRBP will collaborate closely with site leadership teams to align business objectives with employee performance, development and culture. This role will anticipate organizational needs, proactively identify challenges, and implement solutions in a multi-site team environment. You will serve as a trusted advisor for site leaders, guiding workforce planning, leadership development, and employee engagement strategies. This high-impact, high-visibility role requires a strong leader with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills who can build relationships and influence decision-making in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000 a year

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Business Partnership
    1. Partner with site leaders to ensure alignment of HR strategies and processes with business objectives.
    2. Build trusted advisor relationships with site leaders and serve as a resource to address daily Human Resources matters.
    3. Leverage site partnerships to implement HR initiatives that support successful employee performance.
    4. Develop a strong understanding of program operations to proactively recommend solutions to solve problems before they impact the organization.
    5. Ability to collaborate with the HR Director and leadership to identify and maintain useful HR metrics to support business objectives.
  • Organizational Development
  1. Analyze organization workflows to identify opportunities to improve process effectiveness.
    1. Collaborate with site leaders to identify opportunities to improve organization effectiveness.
    2. Advise on maintaining a healthy culture that aligns with the organization’s goals.
  • Talent Management/Recruiting
    1. Lead workforce planning initiatives to identify talent needs for the organization.
    2. Partner with site leaders to develop recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
    3. Support development of programs to build critical skills and capabilities.
    4. Consult with site leaders on performance management and career growth for employees.
    5. Manage recruitment strategy to hire talent for open positions.
  • HR Functional Expertise
    1. Interpret HR policies and programs for business leaders.
    2. Provide compliance guidance related to labor laws.
    3. Analyze HR data and trends to develop business solutions.
    4. Provide recommendations on HR initiatives to achieve business goals.
    5. Serve as a resource regarding compensation, deductions and benefits.
  • Employee Relations
    1. Serve as a trusted advisor and partner to site leaders as primary HR point of contact.
    2. Consult on approaches to enhance employee engagement and productivity.
    3. Mediate complex employee relations issues and conflict concerns.
    4. Partner with site leaders to address team dynamics challenges.
  • Human Resources
    1. Manage the onboarding process to educate new employees about policies, internal procedures and regulations.
    2. Assist with partner on-boarding such as background checks, record keeping etc.
    3. Develop and maintain job descriptions.
    4. Coordinate off-boarding process.
    5. Partner with ADP TotalSource to maintain employee records.
  • Payroll Management
    1. Partner with ADP Total Source to manage the payroll process.
    2. Responsible for timecard preparation and review for approval bi-weekly.
    3. Review overtime hours and ensure approval from Chief Executive Officer.
    4. Monitor paid time off and sick leave benefits in accordance with policies.
    5. Distribute payroll checks to employees, when necessary.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum Qualifications
    1. Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or a related field is required.
    2. Master’s degree in human resources or related field is required.
    3. Minimum of 2-3 years of HR Business or Generalist experience is required.
    4. CPR and First Aid Certifications, or ability to certify upon hire.
    5. Satisfactory Criminal background and unprofessional conduct checks.
    6. Ability to work onsite at the Flint Center's Central Office.
    7. Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with educators, parents and Flint kids.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    1. Experience in recruitment or HRBP is preferred.
    2. Experience with HR Information Systems (HRIS) and payroll outputs.
    3. Strong analytical skills to interpret data and develop KPI’s.
