What would you do as an assistant Branch Manager?

As the Assistant Branch Manager in our Ypsilanti, MI branch, you'll support the Regional Branch Manager by overseeing day-to-day branch operations, supervising staff, ensuring excellent member service, promoting credit union products and services, maintaining compliance with regulations and acting as the Branch Manager in their absence, all while upholding the credit union's values and goals. Your role is pivotal in shaping the branch’s success, as you actively engage in the overall management of the branch. With a keen focus on member satisfaction, you will ensure that our members’ needs are met with promptness and professionalism, fostering a culture of excellence within your team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities – Other duties may be assigned.

Staff Supervision:

  • Train and coach branch staff on credit union policies, procedures, and product knowledge.
  • Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and address performance issues.
  • Schedule staff to ensure adequate branch coverage.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and identify training needs.

Branch Operations:

  • Oversee daily branch operations, including teller transactions, account opening, loan applications, and member service.
  • Ensure compliance with all credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor branch performance against established goals and identify areas for improvement.
  • Resolve customer issues and complaints efficiently.Sales and Member Service:
  • Actively promote credit union products and services to members, including loans, accounts, and investment options.
  • Build strong relationships with members to foster loyalty and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to ensure member satisfaction.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Must comply with and support all the credit union’s policies and procedures to maintain good standing with the Comprehensive Information Security Program, Employee Handbook, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC), etc.
  • Identify and report suspicious activity.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation. Leadership and Delegation:
  • Act as the Branch Manager in their absence, assuming full responsibility for branch operations.
  • Delegate tasks effectively to staff members based on their skills and expertise.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the credit union by participating in team meetings and initiative.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent combination or education, training and experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of previous experience in a financial institution.
  • Leadership or previous supervisory role preferred.
