About This Position

Description:

The Lead AutoCAD Drafter plays a critical role in delivering precise and efficient drafting solutions for commercial site plans and survey data interpretation. This position supports the AutoCAD Department by managing complex drafting projects, reviewing junior work, and providing advanced expertise in the creation and revision of 2D and 3D drawings. The Lead Drafter ensures drafting quality and accuracy while working collaboratively across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interpret complex survey data and transform it into detailed, accurate 3D drawings in model space.
  • Lead the preparation and revision of commercial site plans based on redlines and project specifications.
  • Ensure CAD outputs adhere to company standards and project requirements.
  • Support the CAD Manager in reviewing deliverables and quality-checking junior drafter outputs.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior drafters as needed.
  • Coordinate directly with project managers and survey teams to clarify and resolve drawing discrepancies.
  • Efficiently manage multiple projects, prioritizing deadlines while maintaining high quality.
  • Maintain and organize CAD files, project folders, and documentation.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders via email and phone.
  • Leverage advanced AutoCAD tools, blocks, viewports, plotting setups, and layer management techniques.
  • Stay current on drafting standards and emerging technologies or AutoCAD updates.
  • Support continuous improvement of CAD workflows and contribute ideas for operational enhancements.
Requirements:

COMPUTER SKILLS:
Proficient with AutoCAD 2010 or later and Microsoft Applications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position works in an environment with moderate noise level. (Examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as telephone. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 20 pounds. Ability to read and understand work instructions.
