PURPOSE/SUMMARY:

The VDC Specialist II plays a pivotal role in facilitating interdepartmental communication, educating team members on VDC service group concepts, and ensuring seamless coordination of tasks within the organization. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, teaching skills, and effective communication abilities to support project success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interdepartmental Communication:

  • Act as a primary point of contact for communication between VDC project lead, Project Managers (PMs), client, and various teams.
  • Proactively identify and resolve conflicts to maintain project momentum and foster collaboration.
  • Document and release informational reports which provide management with necessary information to identify status of deliverables.

Seismic Proficiency:

  • Advanced knowledge in Seismic Design. This includes the ability to manage a scope of work and correctly design and model using all resources and quickly identify problems in the Seismic Design.
  • Act as a VDC Lead for future projects.
  • Coordinating VDC team for upcoming projects.
  • Work with VDC Specialist I team members for issues with training and possible ways to improve.
  • Hava direct line of communication to the PM for all issues related to the project.
  • Expert knowledge in Seismic Terminology.
  • Ability to create a working model for a new scope of work accurately and ready for the team.
  • Advanced knowledge of all ISAT manuals and details.
  • Expert understanding of the ISAT workflow to ensure a clash free model.
  • Advanced ability to talk with the customer about issues and join meetings daily if needed.
  • Expert knowledge in the Bracing Legend and SDF sheet. This includes creating the SDF through the contract drawings, creating the Legend and correctly filling out the Job Data.
  • Expert knowledge in scheduling and printing sheets at the end of the scope of work.

Education and Training:

  • Provide VDC Service Group education to new hires, covering fundamental concepts and tools necessary for project execution.

Task Coordination and Management:

  • Proactively identify and resolve conflicts to maintain project momentum and foster collaboration. This includes assessing current workflows and ascertain changes or necessary additions to improve them.
  • Coordinate task completion, model synching, and other project activities with peers to ensure alignment with project timelines and objectives.
  • Manage NEXUS data creation and ensure accurate and timely entry of project-related information.
  • Correct use of naming conventions for all Seismic related content.
  • Be in communication with the PM and group Managers for all issues at the first instance so it can be resolved quickly.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Possess a fundamental understanding of BIM360, engineering details, and construction industry standards to support project requirements.
  • Conduct peer checks and ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices for clash detection and model coordination. This includes demonstrating experience with niche clash and the ability to provide resolutions.
  • Compile material and product quantification reports based on predictive models.
  • Audit, compact, and manage the synchronization backup of models within systems.

Facilitation and Leadership:

  • Facilitate meetings and liaise with project teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment of goals.
  • Provide leadership in modeling oversight and project scheduling to optimize team performance.

Construction Industry Knowledge:

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of construction method standard and building codes, including but not limited to IFC, UFC, and CBC, to determine application and provide practical insights into decision-making processes.
  • Detect the need and proper application of both LEAN and LEED construction techniques when appropriate.
  • Capability to model seismic bracing in Revit and evaluate constructability of proposed implementations.
  • Familiarity with ISAT products and solutions, including ISAT hardware and engineered solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of building codes, LEAN construction techniques, and LEED principles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate team members effectively.
  • Should specifically be highly proficient with BIM computer applications such as Navisworks Manage, Autodesk Point Layout, Trimble, Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD and BIMTrack.
  • With 3+ years’ work experience, the VDC Specialist II is considered a subject matter expert (SME) for virtual construction within the ISAT Total Support employment structure. Their objective is to effectively populate, coordinate and manage all design and fabrication models on a project level basis for the VDC Service Group. Additionally, VDC Specialist II should be an informational and quality control resource within the VDC Service Group and willing to support content education on an as needed basis.
  • High level of attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality, and a critical eye for design.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
