Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

- We offer a 7-on, 7-off schedule that consists of one week of 12-hour day shifts followed by one week off, followed by one week of 12-hour night shifts. We also have a 7-on, 7-off schedule that consists of all day shifts. These schedules offer a great work-life balance with ample time for rest and personal activities.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Supervisor – Tailings and Water oversees daily Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) deposition and site water management activities, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and company standards. This role provides direct supervision to personnel and contractors, coordinates with engineering on deposition planning, and supports reliable pump house and water system operations.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all employees and contractors comply with MSHA regulations and site safety standards; reinforce safe production practices through frequent field engagement and safety discussions.
• Operational Oversight: Monitor and control daily tailings deposition and water system activities to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved plans.
• Pump House & Water Systems: Maintain strong working knowledge of pump house operations and site water management systems to support reliable system performance.
• Planning & Coordination: Collaborate with engineering to develop and execute TSF deposition plans; coordinate with HSEC, engineering, and project stakeholders to meet schedule and budget objectives while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Project Execution: Establish and meet timelines for project readiness and field execution; identify potential bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
• Incident Management: Investigate, document, and report incidents in a timely and accurate manner.
• Team Leadership & Development: Supervise, coach, and develop personnel; provide regular communication regarding performance expectations, progress updates, and issue resolution.
• Contractor Management: Oversee contractor activities to ensure alignment with safety, quality, and productivity standards.
• Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of accountability and operational excellence across tailings and water operations.
• Additional Duties: Perform other assigned supervisory responsibilities as required to support site operations.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Required
• Minimum 3 years of combined experience in supervision, maintenance, construction management, project management, and/or safety within a mining or heavy industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of tailings operations, water management systems, and pump house operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead crews and contractors in a field-based environment.
• Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills, including the ability to manage confidential information.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Experience working with Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs).
• Experience coordinating cross-functional mining or processing projects.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Primarily field-based role with routine exposure to active mining and processing environments.
• Approximately 70% field work and 30% office work.
• Regular walking on uneven ground and around heavy equipment.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, and noise.

All positions require a pre-placement physical examination to ensure candidates are 'fit for duty’. Additional training and/or testing may be required.
