Advance Practice RN-Wellness Recovery

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • The Advanced Practice RN-Wellness Recovery works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team both internally and externally to the organization to assist patients and families struggling with Substance Use Disorder. This position provides ongoing support and expertise through comprehensive clinical and psychosocial assessment, planning, implementation and overall evaluation of individual patient and family needs. The APRN-Wellness Recovery also serves as a resource for all parties involved to include clinicians, patients and families to help bridge the gaps in the healthcare system for those with Substance Use Disorder.
  • DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
    • Aids in development of a program for inpatient treatment of substance use disorders and plan for discharge of these specific patients in order to facilitate their establishment in an outpatient treatment facility.
    • Sees patients in a timely manner, review previous notes, other consultants’ notes, pertinent labs and radiology studies as needed. Order appropriate testing and/or medications as needed. If unsure, then discuss with that patient’s physician or consultant. Document your findings and plans for that patient to be reviewed by physician.
    • Facilitates and leads groups for patients and families regarding substance use disorders, available treatment options and outpatient resources available.
    • Supports organization wide approaches to improving practice in areas such as standards of care, protocols and patient education regarding substance use disorders.
    • Assists in the identification of educational needs of staff and utilize resources to foster continuing development regarding substance use disorders to help reduce compassion fatigue.
    • Maintains strong, cooperative relationships with all departments, including the medical staff, requesting and using feedback to improve communications and actively problem-solve.
  • EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum requirement:
      • Master’s degree in Nursing with Advanced Nurse Practioner Certification
      • Minimum of five years experience in health care, beginning at the staff level positions of increasing responsibility required.
    • Preferred qualifications:
      • Previous experience with substance use disorders.
      • Holds APRN Psych/Mental Health Certification
  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    • Works indoors in an office/clinic setting
    • The noise level is usually moderate
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    • Constantly required to maintain a stationary position behind a computer.
    • Frequently required to move about inside the department.
    • Constantly required to communicate telephonically and face to face with colleagues and customers.
    • Constantly required to operate a computer and telephone.
    • Constantly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
    • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
    • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
