POSITION SUMMARY:
The Driver-Class C will perform manual labor in the collection of trash, green waste and recyclable material on designated residential routes, public spaces, including special hauls, bulky items pickups and illegal dumps. The ideal candidate is reliable, physically capable, and committed to providing efficient and professional services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
- Safely operate Class C truck for collection and removal of waste.
- Collect and transport trash recycling, green waste and special hauls.
- Collection of annual, e-waste, bulky items, illegal dumps and leaving location clean and free of debris.
- Interact with customers, dispatchers, and others daily to ensure all orders are serviced in a timely, accurate and professional manner Ensure all loads are always secure for safe transport to designated disposal facility.
- Off load items to the C&D Yard using forklift and placing items in their designated area in an organized manner including submittal of proper paperwork/recordkeeping completion.
- Perform pre- and post-operation inspection and complete the VCR (Vehicle Condition Report) book for the assigned vehicle in accordance with Company policy.
- Collection of waste on assigned routes and leaves the location clean and free of debris and accidental waste spills.
- Assembles garbage bins and recycling containers.
- Communicate accidents, injuries, or property damage to Supervisor immediately.
- Develop and maintain a professional demeanor with public.
- Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicle and equipment.
- Identify and report truck or equipment issues promptly utilizing the Fleet Software Program.
- Report ends of day hours utilizing Fleet Software Program.
- Maintain Driver log sheets.
- Perform all duties with a very high level of productivity to complete all work orders assigned.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
- Two years of driving experience with ability to operate equipment with skills, efficiency and safety.
- Ability to give full attention to assigned route. Drivers will navigate driveways, alleyways, parking lots, high traffic roadways. Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential to successfully perform this job.
- Must have ability to understand and complete route sheets and dispatch tickets.
- Must have ability to read, interpret maps easily & route work orders in most efficient sequence.
- Good customer skills to meet and exceed customer expectations in a professional and courteous manner.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
- Good follow through ability; adheres to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to perform heavy and physically demanding work for lengthy and continuous periods of time.
- Ability to withstand all types of weather conditions.
- Ability to work Thursday through Monday schedule.
EDUCATION
Less than high school education; or two years of driving experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Valid California Class C driver’s license
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and write English, interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. They should also be able to speak English effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
We are a drug free & alcohol-free work environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and dirty. Required to put on protective outfits such as gloves, high visibility gear, hardhat, etc.
