Position Overview:Mental Health Workers, operating in an Apartment Based Supportive Services capacity, provide direct support professional services and independent living skills training to the individuals we serve in an apartment style setting. Our clients include those with a severe mental illness (SMI) health diagnosis and or traumatic brain injury (TBI) disability. This role reports to the Program Manager and has no direct reports.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support individuals in independent living skills through 1:1 service.
- Support individuals in mental health management through identifying coping skills, practicing coping skills, and alternative methods.
- Teach and model community integration skills such as: self-managing medications, managing personal finances, appropriate interpersonal interactions, managing the public transportation system, completing the necessary tasks to maintain a home, and accessing community resources.
- Interacts informally with individuals to facilitate socialization and appropriate behavior.
- Participates in scheduled and spontaneous recreational events.
- Teaches healthy living habits and develops the accompanying skills.
Required Qualification and Experience:
- High school or GED
- Experience working with adults and/or children with mental health illness and/or experience working in fast paced environment and/or in client facing roles
- Must pass the required background check and remain eligible to provide services as defined by the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
- Must pass the screening required by Federal Human Services Office of Inspector General to assure that person has not been excluded from working in the Health Care Programs which receive federal funding.
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license and insurance
Preferred Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in human services, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Possess a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with persons diagnosed with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI).

Compensation: $19 per hour
Type: Part-Time
Shifts: Shift availability varies by location (Ramsey & Dakota Counties) and may include weekdays and weekends.
