About This Position

Company & Job Overview:

Diality Inc, a privately held medical device company located in Irvine, CA is committed to improving the quality of life for patients with kidney disease. We are developing a smart, flexible, portable hemodialysis machine that will enable patients to self-treat at home or wherever they travel. The extremely versatile hemodialysis solution will allow more patients to benefit from their true dialysis prescription at home or in a variety of care settings, including nursing homes, hospitals, and dialysis centers, without the need for pre-mixed dialysate bags or external water-treatment systems.

As a Senior Buyer, you will play a crucial role in optimizing our procurement processes, driving cost savings, and maintaining positive supplier relationships. Your expertise in purchasing procedures, strong interpersonal and communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and meticulous organizational skills will be essential in achieving our procurement objectives.

Responsibilities:

The role is responsible for ensuring adequate supply of materials through every stage of the product development cycle through the creation of supply strategies, risk assessment and process improvements.

Component and Material Supply:

  • Creates, processes and tracks purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of goods, services and equipment per internal stakeholders’ requirements.
  • Coordinates the initial inquiries from product development engineers to outside vendors and their representatives.
  • Ensures purchase order data accuracy
  • Maintains accurate procurement records in accordance to quality requirements.
  • Maintains and reports KPI’s to ensure timely approval of purchase orders.
  • Works closely with the various contract manufacturers, clinical and commercial teams to define sourcing strategies and ensure adequate supply of materials and components.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders, to understand needs and provide strategic procurement solutions.
  • Implements and utilizes ERP tools to monitor inventory levels and forecast demand, generates purchase orders and coordinate with suppliers to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Develops procurement strategies, including ROP, VMI, SS implementation through the supply chain channels.
  • Works collaboratively with Production and Engineering for change revisions and New Product releases.
  • Creates procurement plans for each stage of the product development stage: R&D, DVT, Production.
  • Executes purchase order and tracks on-time delivery.

Supplier Management:

  • Effectively communicates and maintains relationships with existing suppliers.
  • Evaluates supplier performance based on key factors, such as quality, delivery time, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Participates in the development and maintains supplier scorecards in collaboration with quality.
  • Drives discussions regarding defective or unacceptable goods or services with the appropriate internal department(s) and suppliers to determine source of issue and implementation of corrective action.
  • Ensures accuracy and maintains ASL (Approved Supplier List). Secures documentation for new supplier set up, as needed.
  • Works with the Finance team to proactively investigate and support resolution of supplier Accounts Payable issues.
  • Monitors supplier compliance to contractual agreements.
  • Negotiates supplier NDAs.

Cost Analysis and Reduction:

  • Monitors market conditions, conducts cost analysis, identify areas for cost savings, and implements cost reduction strategies without compromising quality.
  • Ensures best pricing and negotiates with suppliers, as necessary
  • Negotiates service agreements

Quality:

  • Maintains accurate procurement records in alignment to FDA requirements.

Risk Management:

  • Assesses and mitigates risks associated with supply chain, such as supply disruptions, quality issues, or compliance concerns by developing contingency plans, identifying alternate sources/components, and implementing strategies to minimize risk and ensure business continuity.
  • Leads supplier change management notification cross-functional discussions and ensure activities are implemented to minimize risk.

Process Improvements:

  • Identifies process improvement opportunities through the supply chain pipeline and lead implementation of action plan with cross-functional teams.

Other:

  • Creates and maintains KPI's to monitor supplier performance, cost savings and process improvements.
  • Ensures adherence to company policies and procurement best practices while identifying areas for operational improvement.
  • Performs a variety of analysis to assess business risks and opportunities with moderate level of financial relevance to drive supply chain strategies.
  • Other Operational tasks as directed and needed.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in Purchasing best practices.
  • Proficiency in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and MRP (Materials Requirement Planning) software
  • High level understanding of forecasting reports
  • High level understanding of FDA requirements for purchasing
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills
  • Technical Knowledge - Ability to understand the products/components needed
  • Knowledge in continual improvement tools and processes.
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Good Presentation to management skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or Administration required
  • 5-8 years related work experience.
  • At least 5 years work experience in an operations/supply chain role within an FDA regulated environment in the medical device industry or medical field.
  • New Product Introduction and Life Cycle Management experience.
  • Self-starter; self-motivated, results and performance driven.
  • Ability to identify and implement new technologies.
  • Adaptable to meet rapidly changing priorities and exercise a high degree of business judgment and sound reasoning.
  • MS Office proficiency and able to quickly learn new software systems.
  • CPIM, CPM certification is a plus
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Expert Certification is a plus.

Travel

  • Up to 25 %
