About This Position

Key Responsibilities
Precision Healthcare Specialists is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Histotechnologist to support our Mohs Dermatology team. This role is responsible for the preparation and processing of tissue specimens during Mohs micrographic surgery, ensuring accurate and timely results that directly impact patient care. The ideal candidate has experience in frozen sectioning, strong technical precision, and thrives in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process tissue specimens for Mohs micrographic surgery, including embedding, freezing, cutting, and staining
- Perform cryostat sectioning with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
- Stain slides (e.g., H&E) and ensure high-quality, diagnostic-ready specimens
- Maintain proper orientation and mapping of tissue specimens in coordination with the Mohs surgeon
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including cryostats and staining systems
- Adhere to all CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations and standards
- Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and handling of specimens
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, safety, and organization
- Monitor inventory and order lab supplies as needed
- Collaborate closely with the Mohs surgeon and clinical team to ensure workflow efficiency
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology or related field required
- HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification preferred (or eligible)
- Minimum 1–2 years of histology experience required; Mohs experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency in frozen sectioning and cryostat use required
- Strong understanding of tissue orientation and embedding techniques
- Knowledge of laboratory regulations and safety standards
- Exceptional attention to detail and precision
- Ability to work efficiently under time-sensitive conditions
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to quality and patient safety
- Fast-paced Mohs surgical laboratory setting
- Time-sensitive workflow supporting same-day surgical procedures
- Prolonged standing and use of laboratory equipment
- Work alongside a specialized Mohs surgical team
