The CNC Machinist position supports API’s mission by responsibly setting up, operating, and maintaining automated and manual machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses, to produce precision metal parts and components in accordance with mechanical drawings, schematics, or engineering specifications.
Swing shift is preferred - Schedule is M-F, 2:15 PM to 10:45 PM
A typical day:
- Utilize Fanuc controls to input G & M code for machining operations.
- Calculate and apply appropriate feeds and speeds.
- Set up machines, select tools, and operate equipment for standard and custom parts.
- Use and interpret measuring tools to ensure precision and quality.
- Follow setup sheets and work instructions accurately.
- Review mechanical drawings, manuals, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances.
- Inspect and verify finished workpieces meet required specifications.
- Support team operations by assisting with related tasks as needed.
The ideal candidate requires the following:
- CNC Machinist with 3+ years of experience operating lathe and milling machines.
- Strong proficiency in CNC machine operation.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic knowledge of machine shop tools and equipment.
- Familiarity with workplace safety protocols and guidelines.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in mathematics.
- Basic computer skills.
- Forklift certification.
- Experience as a manual machinist is preferred.
