Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Early Education and Program Planning Specialist, the Early Education Services Coordinator will oversee and coordinate Head Start services in school-based classrooms. The Early Education Services Coordinator will also be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Head Start classrooms at McHarg Elementary School and the coordination of services for Margaret Beeks Elementary.
Main responsibilities:
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the center(s) within required state licensing and federal performance guidelines, following agency policies and procedures in all areas.
Supports the implementation of the curriculum and assessments required by VADOE and NRCA Head Start programs.
Coordinates with school principals on child behaviors, child education, and family services referrals.
Collaborates with school administrators regarding substitutes, supplies, transportation, family notifications.
Attends Special Education meetings and monthly family staffing.
Works as a team player with center staff, NRCA staff, parents and other community organizations to ensure all service area requirements are met to carry out the goals and objectives of the Head Start program.
Actively recruits new families for the program and promotes parental involvement in the
Directly supervises Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Classroom Support Aides, and Family Wellness Coaches, trains, conduct orientation, documents ongoing performance, completes performance appraisals, assists in the hiring process of staff as needed.
Must:
Have a basic understanding of the various learning styles of children and adults.
Understand and possess the ability to teach others about early childhood development.
Have the capacity of exercising good judgment, to problem solve, handle crises, and work with families and children of various cultures from low-income backgrounds.
Have an approach to working with families that is empathic, non-judgmental, respectful, and professional.
Be willing to abide our Code of Conduct.
Have a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field plus one year experience working in a preschool or Head Start program and Supervisory experience.
This is a full-time, full-benefits, salary position. Starting pay is $ 50,917.00 per year, possibly more based on experience and education.
NRCA conducts pre-employment criminal background checks, including fingerprints and child abuse and neglect checks. A pre-employment physical, TB test/assessment, and drug testing is also required. Possession of a valid driver's license and a good driving record is required.
