Job Description

Principal Solution Architect (Healthcare)

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Principal Solution Architect (Healthcare) in the United States.

This senior architectural role sits at the center of a major healthcare platform modernization initiative, transforming a legacy application suite into a cloud-native, interoperable ecosystem. You will translate complex clinical, product, and business requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performance technical architectures. The position requires deep expertise in distributed systems, healthcare interoperability, and modern cloud engineering practices. You will work closely with product, engineering, and infrastructure leaders to ensure end-to-end alignment of architecture with business goals. This is a highly hands-on role where you will directly influence system design, modernization strategy, and technical execution. The environment is fast-paced, mission-driven, and focused on delivering measurable improvements in scalability, performance, and healthcare data exchange.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead architecture design and technical direction for healthcare platform modernization initiatives, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Translate product and business requirements into end-to-end solution architectures aligned with enterprise platform strategy.
  • Architect and optimize healthcare interoperability solutions using standards such as HL7, FHIR, CCD, and related frameworks.
  • Design and implement robust data synchronization, replication, and consistency models across distributed and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Refactor legacy systems into cloud-native microservices architectures to improve performance, cost efficiency, and security.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, cloud infrastructure, and security teams to ensure architectural alignment and compliance.
  • Provide technical leadership through code reviews, design guidance, and mentorship to engineering teams.
  • Support the evolution of development practices, including modernization toward AI-assisted and agentic development workflows.
  • Drive enterprise readiness initiatives, including automation, observability, and operational excellence across platforms.
  • Ensure architectural decisions balance short-term delivery needs with long-term platform scalability and resilience.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3+ years in a Principal Architect or similar senior architecture role.
  • Proven experience modernizing monolithic systems into cloud-native, microservices-based architectures.
  • Strong expertise in healthcare data standards such as HL7, FHIR, CCD, EDI, and interoperability frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, data synchronization, replication strategies, and event-driven architectures.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS, including serverless architectures, APIs (REST/GraphQL), messaging/event systems, and databases (SQL/NoSQL).
  • Ability to design scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise-grade solutions.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate architectural trade-offs clearly.
  • Strong execution mindset with a focus on outcomes, quality, and system reliability.
  • Experience balancing strategic architectural vision with immediate product delivery needs.
Benefits:
  • Remote-first work flexibility within eligible U.S. states.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  • Paid time off, paid holidays, and year-end holiday break.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Disability and life insurance coverage.
  • Health savings and flexible spending account options.
  • Employee assistance and wellness programs.
  • Opportunity to shape a large-scale healthcare technology modernization program with real-world impact.
