Description:

STATUS: This position works under the supervision of the Recreation Manager and/or the Recreation Supervisor and Preschool Youth Programmer.

DUTIES: The recreation leader will perform a variety of duties related to the operation of Parks and Recreation programs and facilities. Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

SUMMER DAY CAMP DAYS & HOURS:
Monday-Friday 7:30am-12:30pm - June 15-August 14, 2026

DAY CAMP COUNSELOR-Summer, starting early June
Assist in the planning of weekly lesson plans.
Help with organization and leadership of program activities.
Supervise youth and present positive role modeling with participant interactions.
Communicate with Pullman Parks & Recreation staff, parents, and participants.
Provide guidance, motivation, and support to all participants.
Familiarity with program rules.
Understand departmental policies and procedures.
Complete administrative paperwork as needed.
Attend all meetings and trainings.

This position's responsibilities may also include: assisting with daily setup and end-of-the-day clean-up, working cooperatively with other staff members, and assisting with the implementation of games, activities, and projects for campers daily.

This position may also support other recreation programs such as special events and other activities and programs that the department sponsors, which may require working split shifts, evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

PAY SCALE:
$17.15

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Camp counselors should be outgoing, energetic, creative, organized, and have some experience working with children ages 3-11. Camp counselors should have a strong understanding of customer service and must be committed to working the entire summer (June 15th - August 14th). Additionally, be available for training the 2nd week of June (June 8-12, dates and times TBD). Candidates must successfully pass a background check. First Aid and CPR certified preferred.
